(Day 1) Towards a Policy Framework for Indian SciComm: Deliberating on Policy Interventions to vitalise Science Communication in India
Towards a Policy Framework for Indian SciComm, a joint effort led by the SciCommSci Club in partnership with Science Policy Forum (SPF), bring to you two focused thematic discussions aimed at vitalizing Science Communication in India.
Science communication and engagement in India has come a far way in the last few years. The “Science Communicators Brainstorming Interaction” organised earlier this year by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India in January 2020, as well as “STIP 2020: Across the Table – Thematic panel Discussion on Science Communication” organised in July 2020, were two such notable events.
These discussions have revealed a diverse range of recommendations for improving different aspects of Indian SciComm. However, more nuanced deliberations on ‘how’ to go about implementing these suggestions have remained rather elusive.
Building on the comprehensive set of recommendations compiled in these meetings, this event aims to deliberate on constructive and actionable solutions as policy interventions.
The ideas, insights and recommendations gathered through these discussions will be collated into a policy memo for the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2020.
The discussions will further delve into the following 4 themes with respect to moving towards a policy framework for Indian SciComm:
Monday, 20th July 2020 – 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Infrastructure and funding
Multidisciplinary SciComm Research
Tuesday, 21st July 2020 -5:30 to 7:30 pm
Ecosystem and Training
Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility
A detailed list of policy recommendations (discussion prompts for our discussions) can be found here.
Please do bring your ideas & suggestions to our online discussions on Monday, 20th July, 2020 (Funding, Infrastructure & Research in SciComm) for which you can register below. You can register for the session on Tuesday, 21st July 2020 (Ecosystem, Training, Diversity, & Inclusivity in SciComm) here
