‘Across the Table’ is a panel discussion series planned under the ‘Public & Experts Consultation’ track to hear out different perspectives from experts in various fields through a series of participatory discussions. These panel discussions, 16 in total, are themed around 21 identified thematic groups, which would be impacted by the country’s science, technology and innovation policies. The discussions are designed as online panels of experts, with each panel consisting of three to five members, who talk about the relevance of STI policies in their field. The emerging discussions and recommendations would feed into the drafting of India’s upcoming Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP2020). These sessions are live streamed on the YouTube channel of the Science Policy Forum, and are open for public participation through questions and answers to the panelists.
These discussions are split into two parts, a moderated panel discussion among the invited experts followed by a question and answer session. Questions collected from different stakeholders through our social media (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube) and the SPF discussion forum are forwarded to our moderators. Anyone can post their questions before each event on our social media handles using the event-specific hashtags. Alternatively, questions can also be posted in the SPF discussion forum under new or existing topics with the same hashtags. Questions asked in the comment section during the YouTube live-streaming are also forwarded to the panelists. Those who could not join for the live sessions can still leave their comments on the respective YouTube video or on the SPF discussion forum and they will be taken into consideration as part of the consultation process.
