Major Policy Decisions Needed in DST-Inspire Faculty Program:
    1. The Inspire Faculty is just considered as PDF experience. The Inspire Faculty tenure should be considered as a grade pay experience. As most of us in India finish their Ph.D. by 30 years or more and by the end of Inspire they cross 35. Thus, they are not eligible even to apply for a Asst. Prof. position. In addition, as most of them are not even get a Ph.D. supervision they may not be eligible for Associate Prof. Position.

2.Regarding HRA, As DST has removed IIT Asst. Prof. equivalence as per new guidelines, Institutes are not clear how much HRA they should deduct from our salary. HRA is generally deducted at the basic pay. But it is not clear what is our basic pay now as DST doesn’t provide any demarcation. Some institutes are deducting HRA on the consolidated amount.

    3. As per DST Inspire faculties are to be governed by rules and regulations of the host Institute regarding leave and other administrative matters. Since there is no clarity from DST regarding this they just pass the ball in Institute’s court. The Institute has not clarity what rules they apply. So there should be clear cut guidelines from DST regarding this.

    4. After spending 5 years in the Inspire Faculty tenure they are on roads as host Institutes are not absorbing such a talented pool of scientists. In addition, lack of recruitment in several institutes and now CORONA situation will adversely affect this. Some Inspires left their lucrative careers abroad and came to join Inspire faculty program and are jobless now. Some policy decision regarding absorption of Inspire faculties is the need of the hour.
